Refrigerators
Buying a new refrigerator is not the simple task it once was, from the basic top mount to the spacious 4 door bottom mount there is a size and style to suit every need and want. before making your decision consider the following styles.
Top Mount
This traditional design has been the mainstay for years. With its freezer over fridge layout it offers convenient access to both compartments, and, due to its overwhelming market share, it is the most economical choice per cubic foot.
Bottom Mount
True to its name, the freezer is located on the bottom. By trading positions this puts the refrigerator section at a more desirable height leaving the more frequently used items easier to reach. The freezer section can have either a hinged or slide out door with bins in tow, the latter being preferred for its ease of access.
Side-by-side
In this format, freezer and fridge have equal status. Freezer on the left, fridge on the right, making both sections equally accessible. Be aware, however, that this equality compromises width.
Ranges
From basic simplicity to technically sophisticated, the kitchen range is arguably the most diverse household appliance available today. Which one is right for you will depend as much on your sense of style as your culinary demands. Self clean or easy clean, coil top or smooth top, the list of options can be daunting. Luckily, we'll help you sort it out!
Coil Elements
This range type is economical to both purchase and maintain. Elements simply pull out and plug in, making replacement easy. Be prepared, however, to spend more time during clean up as you will have to deal with drip bowls and trim rings.
Smooth Top
While aesthetically pleasing, the smooth top is a snap to clean. The ceramic glass simply wipes clean. A couple of precautions with the ceramic surface, it is breakable (though not delicate) and sugary liquids can etch the glass. Be mindful of these factors, clean the surface with the appropriate cleaners, and your smooth top can look like new for years! One final note, use flat bottomed metal cookware for optimum results.
Induction
What is induction? In a word, fast! It uses electromagnetic principles to excite the iron atoms in the pan which results in fast, efficient heat. Since induction tops are a ceramic surface clean up is a simple wipe, and since the elements do not get hot there are no burnt on messes to deal with. One rule of thumb regarding cookware, if a magnet will stick to your pan its induction friendly.
Dishwashers
Today's dishwasher is more than just convenient, it is both efficient and effective. Utilizing a filtration system, the dishwasher is able to clean its own wash water allowing it to be recirculated as many times as necessary to get the job done. This enables the unit to use as little as 4 gallons per load, far less than conventional hand washing.
The hotter the water the cleaner the results. That's a simple fact and it's your dishwashers ability to operate with high temperature water that makes them more effective.
